Barcelona, the country’s second-largest city, is a cosmopolitan urban center known for its throbbing youthful energy and stellar architecture.
Step off the beaten path and head to El Born and Vila Vella (Old Town). Get a sense of the local culture at Basilica of the Sagrada Familia and Peratallada. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Barcelona: Sitges (Passeig Maritim, La Playa de Sitges, &more), Tossa de Mar (Playa Santa Maria de Llorell, Great Beach, &more) and Tarragona (Anfiteatro de Tarragona, Circ Roma, &more). Pack the 20th (Fri) with family-friendly diversions at Parc d’Atraccions Tibidabo. Spend the 5th (Thu) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Fenals Beach, don't miss a visit to Casa Batllo, stroll through Playa de la Pineda, and walk around Parc Guell.

To find photos, other places to visit, maps, and tourist information, refer to the Barcelona holiday planner.

If you are flying in from France, the closest major aiports are Barcelona International Airport, Girona Airport and Reus Air Base. Expect a daytime high around °C in July, and nighttime lows around °C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 31st (Tue) to allow time to travel back home.
