Jewel of the Mediterranean

Barcelona, the country’s second-largest city, is a cosmopolitan urban center known for its throbbing youthful energy and stellar architecture.
Step off the beaten path and head to El Born and Vila Vella (Old Town). Get a sense of the local culture at Basilica of the Sagrada Familia and Casa Batllo. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Barcelona: Tossa de Mar (Playa Santa Maria de Llorell, Great Beach, &more), Tarragona (Anfiteatro de Tarragona, Circ Roma, &more) and Sitges (Passeig Maritim, La Playa de Sitges, &more). Pack the 20th (Fri) with family-friendly diversions at Parc d’Atraccions Tibidabo. Spend the 5th (Thu) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. There's much more to do: appreciate the extensive heritage of Peratallada, stop by El Barri Gòtic, steep yourself in history at Ciutat Vella, and kick back and relax at Fenals Beach.

To find ratings, traveler tips, other places to visit, and tourist information, go to the Barcelona journey website.

If you are flying in from France, the closest major aiports are Barcelona International Airport, Girona Airport and Reus Air Base. Expect a daytime high around 34°C in July, and nighttime lows around 25°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 31st (Tue) to allow enough time to travel back home.
