Barcelona

Jewel of the Mediterranean

Barcelona, the country’s second-largest city, is a cosmopolitan urban center known for its throbbing youthful energy and stellar architecture.
Step off the beaten path and head to El Born and Fenals Beach. Get a sense of the local culture at Basilica of the Sagrada Familia and El Barri Gòtic. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Barcelona: Tarragona (Anfiteatro de Tarragona, Circ Roma, &more), Tossa de Mar (Playa Santa Maria de Llorell, Vila Vella (Old Town), &more) and Sitges (Passeig Maritim, La Playa de Sitges, &more). Pack the 20th (Fri) with family-friendly diversions at Parc d’Atraccions Tibidabo. Spend the 5th (Thu) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Las Ramblas, stroll through La Fosca Beach, kick back and relax at Playa de la Pineda, and stop by Ciutat Vella.

To find photos, other places to visit, maps, and tourist information, refer to the Barcelona holiday planner.

If you are flying in from France, the closest major aiports are Barcelona International Airport, Girona Airport and Reus Air Base. Expect a daytime high around 34°C in July, and nighttime lows around 25°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 31st (Tue) to allow time to travel back home.
