The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kyoto: Osaka (Universal Studios Japan & Osaka Castle). There's much more to do: get great views at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ryoanji Temple, contemplate the long history of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, and step into the grandiose world of Nijo-jo Castle.

Tel Aviv, Israel to Kyoto is an approximately 17-hour combination of flight and train. You can also do a combination of flight, taxi, and train. The time zone difference when traveling from Tel Aviv to Kyoto is 7 hours. Traveling from Tel Aviv in September, expect a bit cooler with lows of 23°C in Kyoto. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Sun) early enough to catch the train to Himeji.

The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
On the 24th (Mon), make a trip to Shoshazan Engyoji, take in nature's colorful creations at Kokoen Garden, then explore the historical opulence of Himeji Castle, and finally make a trip to Otemae Street.

Traveling by train from Kyoto to Himeji takes an hour. Alternatively, you can drive. In September, daytime highs in Himeji are 31°C, while nighttime lows are 26°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Mon) so you can take a train to Hatsukaichi.

The city of Hatsukaichi developed from a small market town, frequented by passing samurais during the Edo period.
On the 25th (Tue), steep yourself in history at Itsukushima Shrine Torii, stroll through Miyajima, and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Itsukushima Shrine. On the next day, examine the collection at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, then pause for some photo ops at Atomic Bomb Dome, then don't miss a visit to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, and finally appreciate the history behind Children's Peace Monument.

You can take a train from Himeji to Hatsukaichi in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. September in Hatsukaichi sees daily highs of 32°C and lows of 24°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Wed) to allow time to take a train to Nagasaki.

Inasa, steep yourself in history at Nagasaki Peace Park, then take an in-depth tour of Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, then pause for some photo ops at Nagasaki Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, and finally take in the views from Megane Bridge. Here are some ideas for day two: admire nature's wide array of creatures at Nagasaki Bio Park, head off the coast to Hashima Island, and then take in nature's colorful creations at Glover Garden.
