Your inner history buff will appreciate Edinburgh Castle and Edinburgh Old Town. Get a sense of the local culture at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and Royal Yacht Britannia. There's lots more to do: get a new perspective on nature at National Museum of Scotland, step into the grandiose world of Palace of Holyroodhouse, and explore the striking landscape at Arthur's Seat.

Durness is a village and civil parish in the north-west Highlands of Scotland. We've included these beaches for you: Durness Beach and Achmelvich Beach. Get outdoors at Balnakeil Beach and Sandwood Bay Beach. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Durness: Handa Island Wildlife Reserve (in Handa Island), Oldshoremore Beach (in Kinlochbervie) and Scourie Bay (in Scourie). Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Eilean Donan Castle and Glenfinnan Viaduct will appeal to history buffs. Get outdoors at Highland Titles Nature Reserve and Camusdarach Beach. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Fort William: Castle Tioram (in Doirlinn), Morar Beach (in Morar) and Glen Etive (in Glencoe Village). There's still lots to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Camas an Lighe (Singing Sands) and explore the activities along Loch Linnhe Picnic Area.
