R.K. Kerk van de HH. Petrus en Paulus, Amsterdam

4.5
Located in a pedestrianized shopping area, R.K. Kerk van de HH. Petrus en Paulus remains a secret architectural gem of Amsterdam, frequently overlooked even by the most ardent building buffs. Dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul and nicknamed "De Papegaai" (The Parrot) because a bird-trader's house once stood right in front of it, this is one of two parochial Catholic churches in the city. The 1848 building features a grand Neo-Gothic facade, with stone sculptures of Saint Joseph and a perched parrot flanking the main door. The church offers Dutch-language services during the week and Latin mass with Gregorian chants on Sunday. For R.K. Kerk van de HH. • We found it by chance, it's a beautiful catholic church.
  • Love taking 15 min out of the hustle and bustle of the city to spend a quiet time with God
