Set within Amsterdam's historical canal district, Museum Van Loon honors the descendants of one of Amsterdam's important regent families and their belongings. Originally constructed in 1672 by Ferdinand Bol, founder of the Dutch East India Company, the house passed to the van Loon family in the late 19th century. Visit the museum and peruse its extensive collection of paintings, jewelry, and luxurious furnishings displayed as they would have been in an active home. Continue through the interior and you'll find a garden out back, hidden from the street and complete with decorative hedges, flower plots, and an elaborate building facade. Don't miss seeing the family's carriage accessories and equipment once utilized by their prized horses. Put Museum Van Loon and other Amsterdam attractions into our Amsterdam itinerary maker app, and watch your holiday take shape.

Museum Van Loon Reviews
Beautiful 17th century canal mansion. If you travel to Amsterdam or live in Amsterdam and want to really enjoy the canal experience do not only take a boat, but also visit this house. It will give you a full picture of what the life of a wealthy family was (and still is for some lucky ones) over the canals!
This is a pretty interesting museum and I’m glad we had a look but it didn’t blow me away in what was on display. Maybe more information like another reviewer said would help amplify the experience a bit. Would be interesting if they had more information about the servants quarters although they understandably had them blocked off as I don’t think people would fit up those stairs.
