House On The Three Canals, Amsterdam

3.9
Located in the heart of the Jordaan, the cultural centre of Amsterdam, Canal House is a 23 bedroom boutique hotel located on the Keizersgracht and comprised of seventeenth century merchants’ houses. Centred in 21st century Amsterdam, the design is glamorous, contemporary and comfortable but recalls the rich history of the buildings and the surrounding area.

With a large garden, Garden House and Summer House for private dining, Bar and Great Room, there are plenty of spaces to drink, gather, relax and celebrate.

  • We spotted this on TripAdvisor, and as my wife and I love seeking out some of the more unusual sights and things on offer, we set out to find this house. It is a 17th century building, and the only...  more »
  • Built in the 17th century, this is the only house in amsterdam, that faces three canals, hence its name. Located along Oudezijds Voorburgwal, Grimburgwal and Oudezijds Achterburgwal. Not really a...  more »

  • Definitely, it is not one of Small Luxury Hotels And this is why. Rooms are not properly air conditioned. A receptionist told us that the reason behind is that the hotel is located in a historical building. There was unpleasant smell inside our room and it was not removed by a stationary conditioner. Some refurbishment is badly needed, our room looked «tired». Everything is combined here - the kitchen is combined with the restaurant, the reception is combined with the bar (not a cozy one, frankly speaking), and the shower stands open and is combined with the room. Not everyone likes this. Our room had a wall view (!) - not nice at all. There were mosquitoes during the night, not a pleasant experience either. The breakfast is scarce, only cold meals and drinks are included - one has to pay extra for a warm dish. Canal House boasts a very nice inner garden however, but very few guests have time to relax inside (with no drinks provided) during a short stay. Disappointed. No intention to come back.
  • Really good location, access to most sightseeing places. Hotel is great. Difficult if elderly to get up stairs. Great staff. Enjoyed our stay here. Our view from room was not nice as it overlooked a wall. Other rooms had beautiful views of canal. Nice gardens to relax in.
