The Bloemgracht is a canal in the Jordaan district of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

It connects the Prinsengracht with the Lijnbaansgracht and runs between and parallel to Nieuwe Leliestraat and Bloemstraat in the Amsterdam-Centrum district.

The canal is named after the Bolwerk de Bloem, later called Rijkeroord.

From 1614 the Blom windmill was here. It was moved to Haarlemmerweg in 1878.

  • Bloemgracht is a small canal that links Prinsengracht to Lijnbaansgracht in the Jordaan district of Amsterdam. We recently stayed at Mr. Jordaan Hotel and had a room with a view of this quiet and attractive canal just outside the famous Canal Ring. Bloemgracht is lined well with trees next to the water, while the streets on both sides are where you will find mostly residential buildings, occasional hotels, art galleries, bike rental shops and restaurants. The small bridges which cross the canal provide lovely photographs. You see bicycles parked along the rails, parked canal boats and much less waterway traffic than the larger Grachtengordel canals nearby. In the end, tranquility prevails in spots like Bloemgracht and the other parallel canals that run through the district of Jordan. While not a priority from a sightseeing perspective, these canals are easy to enjoy, particularly if you prefer quieter areas with less tourists and automobile traffic.
