Trip Planner: Europe / Spain / Catalonia / Province of Barcelona / Barcelona / El Pabellón de Barcelona
Explore inside El Pabellón de Barcelona, an iconic modernist building built for the 1929 International Exposition in Barcelona. Admire Mies van der Rohe’s use of minimalist design, simple forms, and extravagant materials such as marble, red onyx, and travertine. Bear in mind that this incredibly modern-looking building was built over 80 years ago. Discover the famous Barcelona chair and the bronze reproduction of Georg Kolbe’s sculpture, “Alba.” Observe how the sculpture is reflected not only in the pond, but in the marble and glass, creating the sensation that it is multiplied. Browse the souvenir shop to pick up a book on Mies van der Rohe or one of his contemporaries. El Pabellón de Barcelona Reviews
ガウディなどのショッキングなスタイルの作品ばかりに触れている中で、このような全く別のスタイル、誇張などの全くないセンスと作品に触れると、とても新鮮に感じます。近代建築の走りとは思えない円熟っぷりです。 more »I feel very fresh when I touch on the work of shocking style such as Gaudí, and when I touch such a completely different style, a sense of exaggeration and no sense at all. It is a ripe ness which does not seem to be a run of modern architecture.

It has not lost its strength yet and still looks quirky and contemporary. €5 access. Cranky Suppost on this hot Sunday. There is also a museum shop. A pity that the forecourt is an empty sandy plain, missed opportunity.
A must see for anyone architect or architectural student. The gift shop also has some great souvenirs too if you want to bring home a bit of mies. It's 10 euros to get in and you pay at the door. There wasn't many people when I went so I had the chance to sit and soak it all in when I was there.
Hilarious that most tourist walk past this marvel of 20th century architecture. This small pavilion is undoubtedly more influential on modern architecture than Gaudi, but one has to work much hard to appreciate the genius at play. Spend €5 on the entrance and enjoy the tranquil contemplation which transfixes almost all visitors.
