Known for its winding streets and hidden squares steeped in history, El Barri Gòtic is ideal for an historic walk followed by a rest at one of the many trendy bars or cafes. A trip through this colorful neighborhood is a trip through time, as this old city center is still largely intact, retaining much of its labyrinthine medieval street plan, with a multitude of small streets opening into bustling squares. Most of the quarter is closed to regular traffic, though service vehicles and taxis are allowed to pass through. Many of the landmark buildings located here date from the Middle Ages, with several sites harking back to the Roman times. El Cali, the medieval Jewish quarter, is also located within this area. El Barri Gòtic Reviews
Best gezellig met allerlei kleine steegjes, barretjes. Heel veel goede eethuisjes. Een beetje Venetië maar dan droger. Effe helemaal in verdwalen is top. more »The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location. A little Venice but then drier. The very best.

If we want history, Barcelona contains everything from the Torre del Mirador del Rey that they say is where Christopher Columbus was received, to so many other buildings with history. I especially highlight The Plaza del Rey (not of the kings left for the other side of the street, the Plaza del Rey is behind the Cathedral of Barcelona, about 200 meters perhaps, and turn again to the right, it is like a square corner in which one is transported 1300, 1400. Some say that the King used to be there because he was alone, others say that there went the market, no matter what, you can both live with being there, one is transported. It's a place to keep in mind when going to the Gothic Quarter. In the middle you sit in those cafes and enjoy a fabulous walk
