  • I really enjoyed this museum. Don't miss the kiosk on the 2nd floor with the mini videos on .....the cultures of Vilnius, Napolean's 19 days, the 1863 uprising etc. English captions. Most exhibits had English text available. Some interesting items from burial grounds. Traditional regional Lithuanian dress exhibit was interesting, as was the exhibit on Lithuanian attitude towards crosses.
  • An incredibly detailed "replica" palace. While there isn't that many actual artifact objects, the information presented on the history, and heritage, of Vilnius's origin, and rise/fall of power, is detailed and of high quality.. Yet perhaps the more important message is in the medium... Maybe it's the fact of Lithuania having invested so much into this project (16 years construction, costing ~€100 million), having taken so much care in trying to reproduce this period replica, that's the real story, of a nation painfully trying to regain and rebuilt a history that was purposefully and methodically dismantled in its recent past.
