St. Nicholas Basilica, Amsterdam

4.4
Daily mass in English and regular music performances draw many visitors to St. Nicholas Basilica, Amsterdam's main Catholic church. Combining elements of both Baroque and Renaissance building styles, the church sits in the heart of the city and features two imposing towers and a domed cupola. In the 19th century the church served mostly seafarers, who considered St. Nicholas their patron saint. Today, the building represents one of the city's most recognizable symbols and is known for its concert series. Step inside to see the crown of Emperor Maximilian I and religious images painted by artist Jan Dunselman.
