アムステル公園にある風車です．かなり大きな風車でオランダらしいです．公園を散策しながらみるとよいでしょう． more »It is a windmill in Amstel Park. It seems to be Dutch with a fairly big windmill. It's a good idea to take a stroll through the park.

The first pitch of the mill was in the Riekerpolder on the Sloterweg, to move the polder water in this polder by Dewatering to the Nieuwe Meer. The mill is at this place until 1932 in use region for grinding the surface water. Afterwards the mill is put out of business. In 1956 the mill was demolished and built in the period between 1960 and 1961 at its current location at the watercourse called Kleine Wetering south of the Amstelpark. The mill can be used, if necessary, to grind the surface water from the Kleine Wetering to the Amstel. The mill is inhabited and that is why the interior of the mill can not be visited. Near the mill on the lawn is a statue of Rembrandt. That overlooks the Amstel River. So if you come with a bus you will not only look at the mill but also walk through to the statue and then take a good look around. By bike You can visit this location well if you cycle over the Amsteldijk in the direction of Ouderkerk aan de Amijk. About half an hour cycling from the centre of Amsterdam on good cycle paths and roadways.
We went biking by the Amstel one very hot summer evening, than ended up by this windmill. It was lovely & quiet to sit here on a bench with a nice breeze and the windmill in the background. You can also hear & see wildlife
Embarrassed to say that I have biked right by this beautiful Windmill house for a couple of years and only now decided to stop and take a picture. I read that it's the most photographed windmill in the Nederlands and after taking the time to stop and enjoy I understand why. It also appears that a family lives there. Best way to visit is via a bike ride, which the whole area is just beautiful sight seeing and a few restaurants spotted all along the river. Take a day bike the area, you'll love it!
