Magere Brug, Amsterdam

3.9
One of the most iconic drawbridges in a city of waterways, Magere Brug stretches over the Amstel River to help connect the city. Though the present structure wasn't built until 1934, its white wooden design replicates the historical bridge that proceeded it. Enjoy a stroll over the river and soak up the city center's bustling atmosphere. Use of the bridge is limited to pedestrians and cyclists; it opens several times a day to allow boats through along the river. Planning Amsterdam trip won't be overwheling when you use's Insprock itinerary maker.

  • And place, is iconic, since there are many legends of its construction, among them is to be the first drawbridge of wood in the world. On the other hand, there are different versions for his name, among them is that the name is given by two wealthy sisters of the Dutch Golden Age who Apellidaban Magere, on the other hand it is said that the real reason of the name is because of the narrowness of the place (Mager in germ languages Anas)... In any case, it is a place that many visit and has a special charm.

  • So pretty but knocked one star off cuz half the bridge's lights weren't working. Tiny bit of a bummer but we are here! Thank you Amsterdam for being so beautiful!
  • An excellent location to enjoy the new year's fireworks. Of you ask where will the fireworks happen, the answer is, EVERYWHERE!! Just be in an open space so your view is not obstructed by buildings and you will be able to enjoy the show!
