  • An amazing cheese shop, hundreds of types of cheeses at a reasonable price. In a short conversation, you can admire the understanding of the sellers in the cheese world. In the shop you can buy crazy and hot sandwiches to take a great price, after the first time we ate there, we never went into the hotel dining room.

  • Kaashuis Tromp is a nice cheese shop along Elandsgracht in the Jordaan District. Opening hours are 8am to 7 or 8pm daily. This is a nice place to see, small and buy Dutch and other cheeses that you can enjoy while in Amsterdam or to take home with you afterwards. Staff member was happy to describe and talk about several of the cheeses we had asked about. During our visit, we purchased an aged Gouda cheese and an Italian cheese with truffle which were vacuum sealed after purchase so that we could take home with us. We enjoyed both cheeses back in Hong Kong over the next month and very much enjoyed them. Taste and strong aroma were both maintained well after travel and sitting in our fridge for a few weeks. Overall, very happy with the cheese purchases at Kaashuis Tromp Elandsgracht. We'll make a stop here again during our next visit to Amsterdam.
  • Kaashuis Tromp is a combination of cheese shop and delicatessen. Besides a wonderful selection of Dutch cheese, Tromp has cheese from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. There is an amazing selection of bread. baguettes, ciabatta and sourdough specialties, much of which is delivered fresh daily from France. Various sandwiches are available and the daily special is featured on a blackboard. There is a refrigerated cabinet with delights as cream cheese with prosecco, capers, caramelized onions, clotted cream, olives, sausages and salami, sun dried tomatoes in olive oil, fresh juices, tapenades, pestos and home-made cheese cake. Dishes of cubed cheese are spread throughout the shop. Try before you buy. The perfect accompaniment to cheese is of course wine, or even port, and there's a nice selection. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and happy to give pairing advice. The store also sells fresh eggs and dairy produce and, as to be expected, all sorts of cheese related items from fondue and raclette sets to slicers, dicers and graters. Cheese can be vacuum packed for travel purposes. Trump has branches in Almaar, Bloemendal, Haarlem, Heemstede, Heilo, Naaldwijk, Noordwijk, Zandvoort and 3 further shops in Amsterdam at Utrechtsestraat, Maasstraat and Buitenveldertselaan.
