The City Hall in Nieuwer-Amstel is a Neo renaissance building built in 1889-1892 overlooking the Amstel. It was the seat of the city of Nieuwer-Amstel's government, but after absorption into the municipality of Amsterdam in 1896, it became a location for the Amsterdam City Archives in 1914.HistoryThe town hall was built on the site of the former Bergenvaarderskamer, a guild hall for the Amsterdam shippers and merchants to Bergen, Norway. The sculptures on the front of the building above the doorway and at the top of the gable were made by Bart van Hove.

  • This national monument, new luxury hotel, has a great history. Built between the years 1889 and 1892, on the former location of the Hall of the Guild of shippers and merchants, in Bergen, Norway, called Bergenvaarderskamer, a town hall of Nieuwer-Amstel, took shape in an architectural aspect Renaissance. Seat of the city of the Government of Nieuwer-Amstel until 1896, at the time of its absorption in the municipality of Amsterdam. New destiny, in 1914, where it becomes the place of the arhives of the city of Amterdam, with a vast collection of documents covering the history of Amsterdam. Located at 67 Amsteldijk, near the Albert Cuypmarkt street market, it overlooks the Amstel and the Pijp. This privileged and trendy location, it is worth its new destiny to be oriented to the upscale hotel of the Riverside group and named the Pestana * * * * *. The sculptures adoring the door and the top of the gable, designed by Bart van Hove, were highlighted. This new hotel-restaurant is listed in the TripAdvisor proposals.
