De Nieuwe Kerk, Amsterdam

3.2
#30 of 120 in Museums in Amsterdam
Originally built in 1408 to accommodate the town's growing number of church-goers, today De Nieuwe Kerk houses art exhibitions in its spacious interior. A fire destroyed most of the original structure, which was subsequently rebuilt in the Gothic style. In addition to its regular program of temporary art exhibits, events, and concerts, the church also hosts Dutch royal investiture ceremonies and royal weddings. During your visit, look for the beautiful stained-glass windows, intricate wooden carvings on the pulpit, and gilded choir gate. Visit the website for information on current exhibits. • The New Church in Amsterdam was completed in 1408, so it is not thàt new. Michiel de Ruyter, the Netherlands’ most famous naval hero is buried here. Currently it is in use as a venue for exhibitions. ...  more »
  • On top of your museum card you pay 2.50 Euro entrance fee, but that money is well spent. A vast introduction to culture and history of Suriname. With attention to the positive and the less positive sides of our common history. I found a lot to see, well explained with text signs and the informative audio tour.

  • It is impressive with stunning stained glass windows and ornamentel figurines and so much more to admire. It is very peaceful too.You are allowed to take photos.Honestly magnificent. Can add the whole new dimension to almost any exposition it hosted at the same time staying calm deep and mystical. Seriously, visit it even if you've already seen what's on show
  • Simply church with beautiful statue and cemetery of noble families or famous persons, entrance ticket fee 9 Euro. The staff are warmly welcome and hospitality. There are self-audio guide instrument and room for storage the big bag or jacket. Not wonderful or beautiful as I expected. Toilet is not free. If you have a limited time, I suggest Royal palace Amsterdam instead of this or you may skip this place for anothers.
