Try some of the best cheese in the country at Amsterdam Cheese Museum, where you can try and purchase products from different cities including Gouda, Edam, Leerdammer, Leyden, Old Amsterdam, and many more. Because of its small size, the attraction almost feels more like a shop than a museum. However, the collection is still impressive, and you can freely taste and compare recipes that have been around for more than 600 years. • The Cheese Museum is actually a basement addition to a really lovely Gouda cheese shop. It's quirky and fun to see the cows and cheese models, but the real winner was the cheese itself. We were able t...  more »
  • Here, you enter through the shop where you can taste a wide variety of goudas (pesto, truffle, chilli, etc.) and the museum is below. The place is colorful, and very nice!

  • The title “cheese museum” conjures up imagery of exhibitions of Dutch cheese, its lineage, traditional cheese making process and varietals all presented at a scale which will be rapidly rattled when coming here. That said, you are likely here in the hope of snuffling a generous amount of cheese samples. This will easily be satiated. Truth be told, this is a cheese shop under the banner of a museum. There is a small exhibit underneath the shop which briefly addresses the making of Dutch cheese. You can also wear a few items and take photos (all good fun). However the broad variety of cheese upstairs is the real star of the show with an impressive selection of Gouda and other options both for sample and for sale. The staff are helpful and patient to explain and help you with purchases. There are signs next to each cheese explaining what it is and its ingredients. Would I come back? Absolutely. If you are passing by the area, it’s well worth stopping in. It’s free!
  • A cheese shop in Amsterdam (very near the House of Anne Frank) that offers numerous different cheeses, the varieties are almost beyond count. Every cheese can be tried, some are offered with fruit jams. Cheeses are packed in vacuumed, labeled plastic bags so they can pass customs freely. Shipping of larger amounts all over the world is also available. The museum is in the shop's basement. The visitor thoroughly goes through the process of cheese production and it's short history. It's very interesting and worth visiting.
